Detailed Description of the Rental House:
Casa de Amor is the most romantic rental house in the Malpais/Santa Teresa area. It’s completely private, with no other homes with 500 meters or more. Ideal for honeymooners, or couples wishing to relive theirs. If you’re going on vacation and thinking about making a marriage proposal, then this is the place to do it! It has a second double bed, so it works well for small families too.
Look at that View!
This rental house is blessed with the most gorgeous views in Malpais. I’ve seen the view from Mel Gibson’s land and this one beats it. It has a perfect bird’s eye view of both the famous Sunset Reef surf break, Mar Azul. This view is incredible from every part of the house, even the bathroom. If you’re coming to Costa Rica to relax, you’ve found the right rental villa, because this view will nearly put you in a trance. It’s hard to impress this writer with views around here, because I own Anamaya Resort, and as owner of Tropisphere real estate too, I’ve seen just about every view in the area. Believe me, this view is in the top three in the area.
Infinity Pool
Casa de Amor has a brand new private infinity pool just for you! The views from the pool are really just to die for. You will find yourself staring for hours at the sea and jungle below. Be sure to bring lots of sunscreen because the pool gets full sun all day.
House Design
The house is an open design, with a large kitchen on one side and the bedroom on the other, and no door in between. Nearly all the walls are just glass, creating a great feeling of light and space. It’s an ideal design for the tropics, and works well here in this ultra-private setting.
The bathroom is very unique, with the shower outside in the open air, and a large round window facing the ocean view. Again, this type of bathroom is ideal for the tropics, and architects and builders who are working in Costa Rica should take note of the design.
Yoga/Pool Deck
Casa de Amor now has a new private poolside yoga deck, 20 feet x 20 feet size, made with the best wood available – Almendro. Even if you’re not into yoga and meditation, it’s a great place to hang out next to the pool, enjoying the shade. It also provides some shade over part of the pool, which is very needed on sunny days since the tropical rays are so strong here.
Nearby Malpais Beaches and Amenities:
This house is located near famous Mary’s Restaurant, which is one of the best in the area. Other great restaurants nearby are Papaya Lounge at Moana Lodge, the Vistas de Olas restaurant, and Beija Flor.
It’s also close to Malpais’s “Secret Beach” (Playa los Suecos), which is possibly the most idyllic and perfect white sand beach in the peninsula. It will fulfill all your tropical beach fantasies unless you’re a surfer, since this is a better beach for swimming and also it’s the best snorkelling spot in Malpais. Great beaches just below Casa de Amor and Villa de Amor.

Malpais Surfing: There are four good surf spots in Malpais: Sunset Reef, Mar Azul, Bahia Barragona, and the Malpais Secret Spot. About six minutes drive is the most consistent sandy beach break in the area… Playa Carmen, and then a couple minutes farther north are the other beach breaks and point breaks such as Santa Teresa, Suck Rock, Playa Hermosa, etc.

* Beds: There are two queen sized beds in Casa de Amor.
* High Speed Wireless Internet: We have high speed wireless set up, and you’ll just need the password to get connected.
* Gas Barbecue Grill: High end American Style gas grill is operational… perfect for grilling the fish you catch while in Malpais. Or buy fresh fish from the fisherman, straight off the boats in Malpais.
* Kitchen: The house has a large, full kitchen with four-burner stove, a large stainless steel refrigerator with built-in ice maker, and all the pots and pans you need.
* TV: Yes, it even has cable TV for those who don’t want to escape from the tube even in Costa Rica… with hundreds of international channels. It also has many music channels and can be used that way too.
FAQs:
* Casa de Amor is a 3-minute drive down to the main beach road. You will need a 4WD vehicle to get up and down, although we’ve had a couple of clients who have decided to do it by foot, which is possible but not recommended.
* A small grocery store is nearby on the main road, just south of Mary’s Restaurant.
* The fisherman’s market is south 2-3 minutes drive and there you can get the fresh catch of the day.
* Two banks, a pharmacy, a French-style bakery, pizzeria, sushi, etc are about 5 minutes drive to the north in Playa Carmen, once you get to the main road.
* Casa de Amor does NOT have Air Conditioning. It’s high up on a hill with great breezes, and it’s much less humid up there than down on the beach. You will not need AC. I lived in Casa de Amor for almost a year and never needed it.

I stayed in this amazing place for three nights and it was absolutely beautiful. I had such a great time. The sunsets were spectacular, and the pool was so warm, even at night, that we stayed in it for hours.
