Moana Lodge

Moana Lodge is a tiny yet charming luxurious ocean view property located in the idyllic town of Malpaiss on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. This regal accommodation option combines African aestheticism with panoramic ocean views, lush tropical gardens, thriving jungles and Costa Rica’s magnificent ocean.

Rooms

The hotels rooms are placed on multi-levels throughout the hotel grounds, dispersed within the lush tropical gardens in five separate buildings. The hotel has a total of ten rooms, the Suite, two junior suites, four deluxe and three standard rooms. All the rooms are of a high standard, the three suites being the larger and more luxurious of the room types. All rooms come with air-conditioning, hot water, private bathroom, private deck, room safe and mini bar.

Honeymoom Suite – The new Suite is a contemporary and romantic design that sits comfortably in its surrounding natural environment. Romance was the central inspiration for the suite which has been aesthetically and luxuriously appointed with African décor elements, crystal lights and several other small details that ensure no stone has been left unturned in achieving their goal. It’s perched privately above the rest of the hotel to ensure an intimate stay. The sprawling suite, which measures 90 square meters, comes with an amazing panoramic view of the ocean from all sections of the room which comprises of five areas in total.

The entrance area is a large open deck allowing patrons to sit and sip a drop of wine while they watch the sun setting over the Pacific. The second area is the lounge which has a convertible sofa bed, bar, plasma screen TV and writing desk.
The bedroom comes with teak floors, cream hued wooden walls, and dim lights to set the perfect tone. The room also comes with modern comforts such as an ipod dock and plasma screen TV. The king sized bed has been given a generous helping of cushions which makes viewing the ocean more cushy. The large bathroom has two free standing stone sinks, bidet, two walk in rain showers with a glass skylight overhead which views up to the stars above. The bathrooms centerpiece is the luxurious two person Jacuzzi with huge roll away windows that open out to offer a sweeping ocean view. The final area is an outdoor garden solarium which has an outdoor shower, two person sun loungers and a balcony. Other features of the room include AC, ceiling fans, hot water, WiFi, bathrobes and slippers, coffee maker, sofa bed, fresh flowers and a room safe that accommodates a laptop.

Junior Suite – For the two new Junior Suites the property went for a modern design in terms of architecture. They wanted a family sized room and something that would innately attractive yet fit into the environment. To help achieve this, Moana embraced a natural approach for the building materials, using as much glass, natural woods and stone as was possible. The rooms themselves come with large bay windows and to offer guests generous ocean views which are available from throughout the entire room. The Junior Suites measure at 70 square meters which is considerably larger than their deluxe rooms. These rooms can accommodate a family of four, with two adults and two children sharing a large sofa bed. The rooms have been aesthetically furnished with teak floors, pastel colored wooden walls, hand carved furniture and wonderful African artifacts.

Restaurant

Moana serves its guests breakfast and dinner in its ocean view restaurant and bar. Since they took over the hotel in 2006, their dream was to open this part of the hotel’s property to all their guests to help them enjoy the pristine beauty of the surroundings while savoring a nice local meal. Guests can watch the waves break along the Malpais coastline and experiencing just about the best that the region has to offer.
