Villa de Amor

This is one of the finest ocean view houses in Malpais, and at a bargain price. Most of the area’s surf breaks can be seen from the spectacular infinity pool area, complete with its own private waterfall. It’s literally on a mountaintop, since the owner used to own the entire mountain that it’s on, and selling lots to many of the people whose houses you now see on this site. But he kept the best spot for himself, and built his house on it, which is now available for rent.

The house has two large bedrooms, with beds sleeping adults (Two king size beds and one folding sofa that is a double so total 6 people.) It has a full sized kitchen as well… everything is excellent quality.

The house has high speed WIFI and a TV with cable.

Villa de Amor is nestled on top of a hill overlooking the scenic beaches of Malpais and Santa Teresa. The vistas one can catch from here are absolutely ravishing- guests can literally view the waves hypnotically splashing on the Sunset Reef, Los Suecos, Mar Azul, and other beaches in the area, in addition to sweeping views of the entire coastline to the north and the naturally endowed Cabo Blanco national park in the southern end. The house is constructed in typical Costa Rican style: huge open windows with striking panoramic visuals from each room and a huge roof overhang for keeping the tropical heat at its minimum.  The whole house features a tiled deck complemented by beautifully kept lush tropical gardens.

Villa de Amor has a very large, comfortable and striking swimming pool, and some of the region’s most beautiful beaches are a mere 5 minute drive from the property. These are ideal for swimming, surfing, lazy sunbathing or simply hiking along the coast to discover the marine wonders of the region.

Each bedroom has an independent full bathroom and a king size bed.  The living room has a sofa that also acts as a double bed.  The mattress on a second sofa can sleep a child so the villa can actually house up to 6 adults and a child. All bedrooms have an AC but it’s rarely needed because there’s always a nice pleasant and balmy breeze blowing in the hotel’s surroundings.

Just below the Villa de Amor are four excellent surf breaks: the sunset reef, mar azul, malpais spot, and punta barragona. The Malpais region has many beaches, secret and sparsely populated surfing and snorkeling spots, and Santa Teresa located at 10 minutes drive to the north features an even greater range beaches and surf spots. Other popular activities in the region include horse riding on the beach or in the nearby tropical rainforests, hiking to the Montezuma waterfalls(25 min away), scuba diving, boat trips to Tortuga Island for whale and dolphin watching, sport fishing, zip line tours, a day trip to the Butterfly Gardens, Cabo Blanco National Park and Curu Nature Reserve.

Editor’s Note: This was once my personal house that I lived in for the green season. It’s absolutely spectacular. The decor isn’t the most modern, and the house itself isn’t huge, but the layout, views, and connection with the amazing pool area create an atmosphere like you’re in the Garden of Eden, but on a mountaintop. You will be amazed and very happy with this choice.
