This Nicoya Peninsula located guesthouse, bar and restaurant are hidden deep in the rainforests in a serene setting of the Nicoya Peninsula. Guests can enjoy a refreshing dip in their swimming pool, or take a 3 minute stroll to access some of the most pristine beaches in the region. Guests can take a quick stroll to the main surfing spots on the Pacific Ocean, famous for its wide and sun husked beaches that stretch for miles.

Funky Monkey is more bohemian style property that allows guests to experience the hippy vibe of the area. You can relax on a hammock and enjoy the aesthetic vibe of Santa Teresa or witness the surfers gliding across the waves, or rent a board and venture out into the world class break yourself. Their professional surf instructors offer daily lessons for riders of all ages and levels.

Amenities

All their accommodations are situated on the top of a natural rock hill, right in the center of a private jungle. The property is nestled away from the street for some much needed peace but is still a mere 200m from the beach and popular surf breaks.

Featuring all types of accommodations, they can create the perfect setting for any group. Spread out throughout their tropical garden setting are two large apartments for families, private cabanas for couples and small groups, or dormitories for the budget traveler. Every room features quiet balconies with hammocks and private open air bathrooms. They also include a book exchange and a DVD library to help guests enjoy their favorite program on digital cable. You also have wireless Internet and a PC for quick use. There is a fully equipped communal kitchen, which offers sweeping views of the ocean over the tree top. Funky Monkey also offers shared accommodations for budget travelers.

    Bungalows – All bungalows have a private bathroom which is partly open to the sky for hot water showers under the sun or stars, a small kitchenette, fridge, safe box and wood furnishings. Their bungalows are built with an effective ventilation system, and each has a ceiling fan. All beds have orthopedic mattresses. Each bungalow features a private veranda with hammock where guests can relax in the backdrop of Santa Teresa’s spectacular sunset.

    6-8 Person Bungalow – Large room (2 floors) with 8 individual beds 4 downstairs and 4 upstairs, no separate rooms, bathroom and shower which is partially open to the sky, small kitchenette, fridge and a sprawling veranda with hammock. This is ideal for a group of friends.

    Suite – Spacious room with double bed and an additional sofa convertible into king bed, 2 fans, safe box, mini fridge, large private balcony with hammocks, and private bath with open sky shower.

    Apartments – A couple of stylish apartments, facing their swimming pool. Both the rooms come with ocean view, A/C, private bath, safe box. They are close to the communal kitchen. The small apartment fits up to 4 people has a queen bed and 2 single beds; the large apartment fits up to 6 people and has 1 queen bed and 4 single beds.

    4 Person room – The 4 person room has 4individual beds (2 bunk beds) with a ceiling fan and shared bathroom. This option caters to budget travelers.

Attractions and Activities

Guests can get inspired by Funky Monkey’s heady natural surroundings replete with sounds of tropical birds and monkeys noisily swaying through the trees. You can also take tours of the area starting from a trip to Montezuma waterfalls, Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, Curu National Park and a Tortuga Island tour. If nature viewing is not really thing, you can go adventure seeking with quad bike tours, jungle treks, night safari, horseback riding, mountain biking, sun tanning, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, sport fishing, canopy tours and much more.
